The silencer is a technology that allows people in open spaces to have private phone and face-to-face conversations, with others around them unable to overhear. Considering mounting concerns with sound pollution and the invasion of private life in public spaces via the cell phone, this little gizmo, once developed for cell phones, could change the social context of cell phone use. But I am getting ahead of things. For now, this is an office-use technology, designed for an open office or a phone conversation. It is designed with privacy in mind, and, at least from its description, it seems to have a good idea of what things should be like!
