NASA has awarded the Center for Space Telemetering and Telecommunications Systems at New Mexico University a $650,000 three-year grant to develop the first wireless service coverage maps of Mars. Additionally, the Center aims to tweak wireless communication technologies to make them work better across the planet. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration believes a wireless service network could aid them as the organization sends rovers across Mars to explore the remote and rocky terrain.
