Correction to the post below. This link will lead you to an article by Willy Pedersen and colleagues, that clearly describes the longitudinal methodology of the project. It is clearly superiour, which makes me consider their statement more interesting. However, the last wave of their data was collected in 1999 and I wonder if things haven't changed with a larger percentage of individuals using mobile phones and SMS and with social norms developing around the practice.
