British Study Indicates Cell Phones Are Not a Health Risk

An independent advisory group of scientists at the British National Radiological Protection Board reviewed research on the health effects of exposure to radio frequency waves and concluded that mobile phones appear to be safe and do not cause cancer. While the group called for more research into the long-term potential health risks of exposure to radio frequency waves, it said in the report that 'The...evidence does not suggest cancer causation, in particular from mobile phone use...' yesterday, in a research meeting, this point was brought up and I was reminded of a sort of urban legend again. People still believe that cell phones are dangerous and a risk - you never know what the hell those radio waves are doing to your brain! It seems our reserach group is not the only one having conerns. Time and again we see studies saying there are no health risks (or at least cancer risks). Yet experience with tobacco and some medical research forces me to wonder who financed this research project. And if the risk IS found... how would that affect cell phone adoption? probably not much. Yet who knows...
